TYPO3 Mailingliste: nicht fragen - lesen!

Here might be a solution but it is in german:

Someone please translate it for the rest of us and post it here.
The problem I am talking about is HTMLArea not loading but remaining at
the 'The editor is being loaded. Please wait...' indefinitely.

1. download the attached file htmlarea.txt
2. rename it to htmlarea.js
3. upload it to typo3/sysext/rtehtmlarea/htmlarea/ -> replace files
htmlarea.js and htmlarea-compressed.js by the uploaded file
3.a You don't need to update the compressed file if you uncheck the
checkbox of htmlArea in Extension-Manager which says that compressed
scripts should be used
4. delete all *.js files in /typo3temp/
5. clear caches

worked for me this way

There is now also modified HTMLArea-Extension available for download at
the same location...
