Thanks Rob for the suggestion.
Unfortunately tt_news would not integrate at all with the complex system of custom extensions on this site (www.notre-europe.eu). The extension push2rss is almost perfect. Each time a record of a particular type (in this case "publication") is created, it is pushed to an RSS feed.. The problem is that the link is unusable: it takes no account of the UID of the page on which the record is found, and no account of what the extension RealURL is up to. Oh well! All other suggestions very much appreciated.
