Standard [TYPO3] Differences between extensions "Front End UserRegistration" and "Email Address Subscription"?

Hi!
What are the differences between the two extensions:
"Front End User Registration" (sr_feuser_register)
and
"Email Address Subscription" (sr_email_subscribe)
?

I did read the manuals but I can't figure out why should I use one or
the other one.

I'm used to use sr_feuser_register, then (searching for Captcha
integration) i found sr_email_subscribe described, in the "What does it
do" section, as:
"The Email Address Subscription extension is built as an extension of
the Front End User Registration (sr_feuser_register) extension and
therefore has very similar features, including..."
Then follow the similar features.

But, what are the differences? At the moment sr_email_subscribe looks to
me like a copy of sr_feuser_register.

Thanks in advance for your answers.
Best regards, ian

Hey Ian,

I think the sr_feuser_register let's people sign up for an frontend user
account (table "fe_users"), where as sr_email_subscribe only adds people
to the address database (table "tt_address").

well... I gotta tell you: I used the sr_email_subscribe for signing up
for newsletter (direct_mail) but was a bit disappointed since
tt_address/sr_email_subscribe did not have some fields I needed (title,
salutation) whereas they're somehow included in fe_users. But this is
just a small sitenote of mine experiencing with especially the latter
extension.

greetings,
benni.

Hey arpad,

don't get me wrong -- the extension "sr_email_subscribe" works fine for
singing up newsletters but does not contain all the fields (= features?)
you have from sr_feuser_register - obviously ;-)

still --- the extensino does what it should do but I figured the term
"email_subsribe is an extension for fe_register" is a bit misleading.

greetings,
benni.

Hi Ben & Arpad!
Thanks for your answers.

IMHO sr_feuser_register can also serve as newsletter subscription and
doesn't need sr_email_subscribe (that instead need sr_feuser_register).

I just tested sr_feuser_register as registration/nl subscription and it
works (with ext:direct_mail). I also added capcha support (ext:sr_freecap).
It's just needed to disable/enable the right form fields.

Maybe sr_email_subscribe have functionality that now has been
added/implemented in sr_feuser_register. This is the only thing I can
figure.

Bye, ian

It needs some improvement. With hard work I got working newsletter
system. My customer wanted CSV-import also.

* da_newsletter_subscription - needs some new fields and TCA in order to
work with wil_importcsv

* wil_importcsv - with TCA for da_newsletter_subscription and a some
modidications imports users

* tcdmail2danewsletter - use users stored by da_newsletter_subscription
in order to send newsletter using tcdirectmail - no changes needed

* tcdirectmail - send mail and can directly use data of
da_newsletter_subscription - no changes needed

Note. da_newsletter_extended - that might cause duplicate users -
don't install, if the author doesn't have fixed version of this plugin.
