Hi,

You could use XENU http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html

It's a standalone application for windows (too bad) but it does it's
work quite well - though it will check your typo3 links too. If you are
an UX fan, you could try with wget

there is an extension in the repository:
http://typo3.org/extensions/reposito...checker/0.1.2/

don't know anything about it other than its there.
maybe you give it a try?

we had written something to check links in fields in the db. it will not
check external links in rte fields. we thought to create something
registering links during transformation rte -> db , but we never found
the client to sponsor this idea.

contact me if you need some code for explicit linktests from dbfields.

Dear Hartmut,

Thank you for your kind response. I have played with the linkchecker a
bit, and I can get it to work for individual pages. Interestingly, it
does tell me, some of the time, that some links are broken when they
aren't. I'd like to be able to see a report for all of the external
links for the site. Has anyone tried this, please? I look forward to
hearing from you. I hope you're having a nice Friday. Thank you!

Dear Will,

after all linkchecker is marked as alpha and doesn't seem to be
maintained anymore. I also tried it now and found it not so reliable.

Then I tried XENU as suggested by Domen (thanks!) and its just perfect
for me as I'm using Windows on my desktop. Creates reports too.

A nice side-effect of such a link-checker is that by crawling the whole
site it also updates the indexed-search data. I love double-use things!
