Hi,
we need to set up a tt_products shop which uses variants. As we have
never used variants before and the tutorials don't seem to deal with
that too much, we were considering buying the book "Der
TYPO3-Webshop" (there are 2 German speakers around). However, the table
of contents doesn't really reveal if variants are explained in depth.
Would it give us the information we need to set up something similar to
http://www.sonnenschutzfolien-shop.de/ ?

There is a short introduction to variants in the book (page 79ff). Short
but quite comprehensive. Using Variants isn't very complicated.
Just create the wanted variants on the "Varianten" tab of the product as
a semicolon seperated list . For example if you sell t-shirts in
different sizes create at the input box "Größe" a line "S; M; L; XL".
If you want to have another price, weight or something else for the
variant you have to create a new article. You have to connect the
article to the product and set the wanted variant per article. For our
example you would have to create 4 variants on with "S", on with "M" in
the "Größe" field.
Don't forget to set plugin.tt_products.useArticles = 1 and make the
needed changes to your template.
That should be all if I remember correctly.
